Convert PDF documents into editable Word files.
This tool needs LibreOffice (soffice) or the macOS PDFKit helper on the server. Neither was detected.
We never fake a conversion - once the required server component is installed, this tool will start working automatically. See the README for setup instructions.
PDF files lock a document's layout, which is exactly why they are hard to edit. This tool re-flows a text-based PDF into an editable .docx file - paragraphs, headings, images and tables are converted so you can change the content in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. Scanned PDFs (which are really images of pages) convert as images, since they contain no real text - those need OCR software for editable text.
Will my PDF convert perfectly?
Simple single-column documents convert very cleanly. Complex layouts - multi-column pages, floating text boxes, heavy styling - usually convert but may need minor tidying in Word.
Can it convert a scanned PDF?
A scanned page contains no text - just a picture of a page. The picture is carried into the Word file, but the text is not editable. True text extraction from scans requires OCR, which this tool does not perform.
What about fonts the server does not have?
Missing fonts are substituted with close equivalents, so the text stays readable but spacing can shift slightly.
