Crop images to the area you need.
Cropping cuts away part of an image - it changes what is shown, not just how big it is. Use it to frame a subject, remove distractions at the edges, hit a required aspect ratio like a square avatar or 4:6 passport photo, or trim a screenshot to the part that matters.
Crop or resize first?
Crop first to frame the subject and set the ratio, then resize to the exact pixel dimensions. Cropping after resizing is fine too - they do different jobs.
Can I crop to an exact ratio?
Drag the frame until the proportions match what you need (e.g. square for avatars), then resize to the required pixels.
Does cropping reduce file size?
Usually - fewer pixels means a smaller file, though the saving depends on how much you cut away.
